Critic reviews and ratings

  • Every single scene of this freewheeling entertainer is peppered with witticism that deserves to be savoured and parroted. But it's not always an uproarious one-liner -- and rest assured they are there in abundance -- highlighting the broader picture of this wholeheartedly frolicsome rom-com.

  • The highlight of the film are its dialogues written by Hitesh Kewalya. You will find each and every dialogue to be clap or whistle worthy.

  • This is easily one of the best films that Bollywood has given us in 2017...

  • The film perseveres to ensure it doesn't make light of the dysfunction in question, and chooses instead to parody the mayhem triggered by it. This is because aside from all the gags about performance pressure, ED happens to be a serious, rarely spoken of, debilitating condition that has altered marriages. But then, as they say, no hard feelings.

  • ...is a zany and entertaining comedy that works because it's bold and beautiful in equal measure.

  • ...immensely likeable film.

  • ...is a light hearted flick that can be seen by the whole family despite its taboo subject.

  • ...in spite of its flaws manages its promise date of a rom com that offers something different, thanks to its quirky, bold, snappy and saucy fun powered by an all the way endearing Ayushmann & Bhumi.

  • ...stays strictly within the limits of acceptability in dealing with a thorny theme that could easily have plunged into overt awkwardness. Lightheartedness is the cloak it wears to conceal its uneasy patches. That it succeeds in that endeavour more often than not is a measure of the director's ability.

  • It's an entertaining movie with some cheeky humour and great performances.

  • This is a brave and bright film with its heart in the right place and its gaze refreshingly free of a gender bias fixed firmly at the crotch level.

    59

  • ...a funny, hopeful film, with enough dry wit and generosity of spirit to allow it to circumvent the farcical pitfalls of its subject matter.

  • The many characters, families and relationships, their quirks and quarrels feel relatable, played as they are by an ensemble of actors who seem to be born to their roles.

  • ...is yet another “small” film that shows where so many of our bigger movies go wrong. It’s not rocket science. It’s just the basics. With an alert cast, flavourful writing, good filmmaking, it’s not… hard..

  • ...overall this comedy of middle-class-Dilli-manners-and-mores suffers from a sit-com flatness. And when everything is meant to make us laugh, you can quite easily deflect attention from the main premise.

  • Intriguing topic: yep! Middle-class setting that reminds you of films from the 70s: yepp!! Great performances: yeppp!!! Good film: No :(

  • ...is super-fun till it gets superficial. It is, to borrow the tagline of another film now in theatres, sundar, susheel and risky in its first half, flails about in the second, but remains entertaining overall.

  • Prasanna presents Shubh Mangal Saavdhan in a rather flat manner and refuses to give space to characters other than the hero and heroine, leaving behind one mess of what could have been a fun-filled entertainer.

  • The screenplay manages to walk the line between crass and preachy, keeping the balance between comedy, romance and the sensitivities around a taboo topic. However, a collection of nice moments and thoughts is untidily stitched together.
