Toonpur Ka Superrhero
Critic reviews and ratings
-
Generously sprinkled with easily identifiable characters and a story that reiterates the need for families to bond and good to prevail over evil -- sweet, simple, succinct kiddy themes...
-
...it seems to suffer from lack of a suitable screenplay.
-
...marks the coming-of-age of Indian animation films.
-
The characters and the entire world of Toonpur are fabulously designed. It's an interesting blend of live action and 3D animation.
-
...a kiddie flick that not many adult minds will appreciate.
-
...should keep the children's attention while not boring the adult audience outright...
-
...a delightful and endearing kiddie movie.
-
...the actors get it right. It's the toons that disappoint.
-
Even if it might be the best animation film to come out of Mumbai, it is not good enough. There's an attempt to cram everything seen in films from Hollywood in one film, whether or not there's room for the concept. Yet, it might not be a bad entertainer for kids with some caramel popcorn handy.
-
The storytelling is flawed at several instances. But still, for the novelty and the relatively stronger second half, the film is worth a watch.
-
...surely even films seeking to occupy children can strive to be more than just the blandly competent (and brightly coloured) fare that plays routinely on kiddie channels on television...
-
...deserves a mention because of the attempt (however piddling and flailing) to push the envelope of Indian animation beyond mythological stories told horrendously.
-
The superstar wants to impress his kids. The film wants to impress yours. The human hero fights the cartoon villain as he moves up levels in a video game. It’s all pretty lame. The connect is somewhere lost.
-
Good for little kids who haven’t been exposed to the delights of cartoon network. If there any left.
-
...gets its animation almost right, and the interweaving of live action is quite seamless and well executed. The film falters in its storytelling, which is hackneyed.
-
...singularly charmless...
-
Despite the occasionally impressive animation, Toonpur Ka Superrhero is an ordeal to sit through because it has neither the visual wizardry nor the engaging storytelling...
-
...a total write-off.
-
...has good animation but it is a very boring movie.
-
The kiddie audience the film is aimed at, has seen so much better on TV and big screen, that Toonpur is bound to evoke yawns. It is so lacking in pace and humour that the really little ones might just doze off.
