Yamla Pagla Deewana 2
Critic reviews and ratings
-
Don't go looking for a genius in the script, there is none, like in most of the recent blockbusters that have rewritten box-office figures. This one too, I believe, will have the cash registers jingling.
-
Minus 30 minutes, YPD 2 could have been much funnier - and much shorter.
-
...isn't all bad, but at 2 hours and 35 minutes it's overlong and repetitive, and doesn't offer anything particularly original or inventive in terms of comedy.
-
Neither funny, nor witty, YPD2 looks dated and feels half-hearted in its attempt to cater to the family audience.
-
This one’s not a classic by any standard, but watch it once if the mention of Dharmendra brings a warm smile to your face.
-
It's a weird mess rolling in goofed-ups, shaadi naach-gaana, kidnappings and clownish dons, patented to woo the lowest common denominator.
-
...the only thing one can say in its favour is that it is not as terrible as the first.
-
...rides on the star power of the Deols and of course, its brand. That may attract the spectators initially. But, eventually, it's the content that does the talking and in this case, the lackluster script plays a spoilsport!
-
Not once did I smile, let alone laugh out loud in this ‘comedy’.
-
Forget funny, the sequel isn't even mildly amusing. It's just boring.
-
..."genius".
-
Sadly, the film doesn't work - neither as a comedy nor as a moral science-infused family drama.
-
Other than its amateurish logic and moronic action, the screen is devoid of any chemistry or vigour in its wit.
-
...its attempts to pass off lunacy as a humour simply do not have the force to hold such a long film together.
-
Boring as hell are the words that come to mind after watching Yamla Pagla Deewana 2...
-
It’s exhausting, loud and so cheerfully moronic that it hurts.
-
Tries so hard to be funny that it makes you more sad than happy.
-
If you watch this sketchy film, be advised. Do not, under any circumstance, take your brains along.
-
The farcical humour has a few stray sparks, but this film, at 150 minutes, is a bellicose assault on the senses.
-
...is one of those rare films that made me wonder why it was made at all.
-
...is double the pain, double the torture and double the agony.
-
The sequel misses the Punjabi humour of the original film
