Ek Paheli Leela
Critic reviews and ratings
-
...is worth watching, purely because of Sunny Leone and the way she has been presented… like never before!!!
-
You might guffaw at a few scenes because the film isn't exactly an epitome of logical thinking. But as an entertainer, it's colourful, crisp and convivial.
-
Though there are more flaws in the film’s execution, at the heart of it Leela is a genuinely intriguing, if slightly predictable story and the twist at the end could have been a game changer had it been played out better.
-
If Sunny Leone gets your temperature rising then Leela won't disappoint. Don't have big expectations and you might be pleasantly surprised.
-
...a half-entertaining story that unfolds between songs, some past life mumbo-jumbo, sprinkles of Rajasthan exotica, and a good-looking cast that makes it somewhat bearable.
-
So should one watch this almost three-hour long non-mystery? Yes, if you are a Sunny Leone fan.
-
The film is shot on a grand scale but the connecting links to the past 300 years are not that convincing. The story could have been better entwined leaving the viewer in a state of suspense.
-
My only humble request is that the next director who gets to sign Ms Leone in a title role and the film is certified A, no time must be wasted in telling a story.
-
It is a film for you, if you are pleased to have a random song pushed into the story every 10 minutes so that the heroine can give can dance a bit in scanty clothes. Story be damned.
-
It’s been sold to tongue-wagging consumers as a historical sex drama, with a thrilling reincarnation twist. What Ek Paheli Leela actually is may cause some shock – it is soft porn, only without the porn.
-
As far as the story is concerned, Ek Paheli Leela gasps and pants, a la its lead heroine, and is unable to do much to the viewer.
-
The fact that Sunny is not an actress isn't anything new. Kudos to her for trying though. But with her, everyone else in the cast seems to have forgotten their day job too.
-
If you needed any further proof that she is really a bona fide, solo Bollywood star, it doesn’t get any bigger than this. Does one need to sit through a whole mumbo-jumbo picture to appreciate that? No.
-
The painfully pointless Ek Paheli Leela is a full-blown cinematic conundrum whose depth is inversely proportional to the geneorus decolletage that is on show.
-
Leone’s risqué image will prove most handy in getting productions off the ground and ensuring footfalls in cinemas, but at least in this movie at least, she is clearly out of place.
-
...is regressive, illogical and completely dependent on Sunny Leone. She looks stunning and dances pretty well, but that much was also available on YouTube. Where is the film?
-
...is just an insincere, lavish and titillating compilation of every item song ever made.
-
Director Bobby Khan wants to create an epic reincarnation love story. But he can’t surmount two challenges — the ludicrous script and the wooden actors.
-
This is a movie so bad that one is truly curious to understand the 'creative process' that went into bringing it alive. It's a semi-porn rubbish masquerading as an intense romantic story.
-
...an awful film, awfully staged, written, acted.
-
Bobby Khan has conjured up a long music video album with a story line whose depth fails to compete against Sunny’s cleavage.
-
Why, in fact, pretend towards a plot, when all this film wants to do is to exploit its leading lady’s awe-inspiring stack? From as many angles as possible, the closer the better?
