Ekk Deewana Tha
Critic reviews and ratings
-
...has its moments but it doesn't really put you in the mood for love.
-
While the film’s direction and narrative do little to appease you, the actors and their characters do that in abundance. If you like light hearted love stories this one is for you.
-
The trouble with this elegantly-packaged but somewhat selfidulgently-edited love story is that it takes a very long to get to the point.
-
...has a few sparkling moments, that's about it. However, it lacks the fizz for the spectator to go deewana!
-
A dull romantic film adds twists in the end to put every thriller worth its salt to shame.
-
Two hours and some, and not one sparkly moment?
-
...a disappointing bore of a love story that tests your threshold for pain...
-
...works in places, but is filled with so many incongruities and strikes so many discordant notes that it is hard to get entirely drawn into the story.
-
Menon struggles to achieve grand emotion but the story is thin and the telling, insipid.
-
...could've been a sweet romance-next-door. This one, however, reeks of characters who you reckon need therapy other than love. Avoidable.
-
A simple and sweet story treated badly. Skip. Simple.
-
...a never ending saga that you so wish should end!
-
How can a movie like this find an audience?
-
...is the Hindi remake of Gautham Menon's Tamil film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya which was a huge commercial hit. Somewhere, something obviously got lost in translation.
-
...disappoints hugely. The story could’ve worked better had it been for a completely different cast!
-
All said and yawned, this one's Zzzzzz-grade.
-
Get on with it guys you want to say. Come to the point. By the time they do you are exhausted
-
This oddly picturised, amateurishly edited, mediocre Mani Ratnam stuff probably won’t cut it for anyone.
-
Lazy filmmaking, repetitive endless conversations, arbitrary songs, and weak protagonists are its undoing.
-
Almost nothing works in the Hindi version. Prateik flubs his way through almost every scene; the editing is video-game frenetic, the cinematography tacky...
-
A love story that validates regressive family values, besides being poorly scripted and executed.
-
...is all that could go wrong in the same genre.
-
There are way too many twists in the film-within-a-film-within-a-film narrative to make for a coherent watch.
-
...already seems like the worst film of the year. An outdated plot, old-style narration and actors so bad, they ought to be arrested for causing trauma.
-
Even if you dont mind the lack of detailing, you cant avoid the potholes in the script. As we wait for Jessie to make up her mind, the film loses its coherence.
