Race 2
Critic reviews and ratings
-
Tightly done action sequences, lots of glamour and one liners that cater to the classes and the masses is what makes Race 2 worth a watch.
-
Heists, hot-babes, roulette, raging cars, gizmos and gags - Director duo, Abbas-Mustan have thrown in everything with pompous grandeur, save for a riveting plot that shocks or stuns.
-
...has enough masala to satisfy the masses. The high octane action, glamour and grandeur cover up the flaws of the film.
-
If this is your first time to an Abbas-Mastan movie, then this film is definitely for you. If you are an A-M fan, then this is definitely not to be missed.
-
...may not be as brillaint and unpredictable as its predecessor but if you ignore its flaws it definitely has all the ingrediants to make for a massy film.
-
...has a rocking first half, glam and glitz, great looking men and women, spectacular locales, extravagant making, adrenaline pumping action and of course, a solid brand that's gonna make moviegoers flock the cineplexes initially, but the film lacks the sustaining power thanks to its uneven second half.
-
Glossy, glitzy, glam. Yup, Race 2 is all this but sadly, not much more!
-
A patchy script wholly banks on its stylish cast and a more stylish treatment. Oops... was that also my line when I reviewed Race four years back?
-
All style no substance.
-
The film has no intellectual pretentions; its only ambition is to offer a good time. In that, it mostly succeeds.
-
...there’s a bit of mindless fun to be had with Race 2, but for the most part it is such an unimaginative replication of Race 1 that it’s hard not to feel taken for granted as a viewer.
-
...a bimbo film, all horsepower, no brainpower.
-
The action brings more 'laugh out loud's than wows. The twists make your tummy churn instead of making your grey cells work.
-
...is essentially a big-budget cartoon in which coolness is all.
-
If it’s mindless action you’re looking for, stop reading. Watch Race 2.
-
Pretty girls to swanky sets, this heist film is definitely easy on the eyes.
-
To be fair, some of the implausible action sequences are startlingly good. However, they do not add up to a convincing enough whole that can paper over the holes in the narrative.
-
...looks exactly like 'Race'. Which may have been intentional because plush locations and pretty playthings and buff men are very much Abbas Mustan trademarks. But all it does is cause a dismally same-same feeling.
-
Race 2, which is as rusty as a vehicle abandoned in their garage. The Baazigars of yore need to shop for new thinking caps, immediately, and renew their filmmaking licences.
-
The big budget is on display, and in boring, plastic ways. A lover of pulp action thrillers has many sharper, and far more entertaining options.
-
...the "director duo" – that very moniker is funnier than most of what passes for humour in their films – have somehow pulled off a thriller where we root for the beautiful people. Walking out, I thought, "How did they do this?"
-
...is the kind of film you wish for your worst enemy to watch on a Saturday night at the most expensive multiplex ticket available. Unlike the first part of the franchise, though, it’s not even one of those guilty pleasure films that act as accompaniment on a drunken night with friends. Even as a terribly bad film, Race 2 is a disappointment.
-
If Race spoofed the structure of Wild Things to ridiculous levels, Race 2 spoofs Race.
-
For all its attempts at providing a fast-paced action thriller, Race-2 overdoes it in all departments. The action over-done, the screenplay over-wrought, the sexiness overemphasized and the cool quotient too desperate to prove itself. There is a story somewhere in between...
-
So witless, it makes you wonder why it was made in the first place.
